2016 Blue Ridge Half Marathon Race Recap

In April, I had the pleasure of running the Blue Ridge Half Marathon in Roanoke as an official blogger for the race.  Now that its mid-June, I’m thinking it is probably about time I post a race recap…  So, here it goes! Before the Race Race weekend started on Friday when we dropped the kids off at their grandparents, and my husband and I drove down to Roanoke.  Last year when we drove to Roanoke to run the Blue Ridge {Read More}

I have been eyeing the Kara Jean for a while now, and let me tell you, they do not {Read More}

Weekly Recap and a Big Announcement! #RunBlueRidge

Well, now that the Marine Corps Marathon and the Richmond Marathon have come and gone, my 2015 racing year is winding down… So, what’s next for me? More on that in a minute.  😉 I felt great after finishing Richmond, like best I have ever felt after a marathon…  Still, I took the entire week off following the race.  I didn’t run, even though I was tempted to lace up my shoes every time I saw someone out on a {Read More}

Weekly Marathon Training Recap 9/7 – 9/13

What a week!   I’m a few days late with  my recap, but better late than never, right?! We’ll just jump right in… Monday – Labor Day. We pushed our long run, (usually on Saturday) to Monday because of the holiday.  So the week started with 16 miles.  Not a bad run, but we (my husband and I), got a pretty late start so it was midday and super hot by the time we finished, and our pace was slower {Read More}

2014 My Year in Review

And just like that, another year is gone… But what a great year it was!! So much has happened since January 1st 2014.  Like 2 marathons, a new blog and 1200 miles! In January, I started training for my first marathon!  I thought it was a crazy idea, and didn’t really have a lot of confidence that I would be able to finish! In the spring, I ran a few local races. I got a PR at the Monument Ave {Read More}

2014 Richmond Marathon Recap

  Well here it is, a few days after my marathon and I’m finally getting around to writing my recap. What a fantastic weekend! It began on Friday afternoon when we hopped in the car and headed to Richmond.  We had kind of a late start, and arrived at the expo just before they started closing up.  We took a quick tour of the booths, grabbed our packets and t shirts with out any problems, and headed back to my Sister-In-Law, {Read More}

Week 15 of Richmond Marathon Training

or “Why I Don’t Run in the Dark!” I’ve finished my last week of training before the Richmond Marathon Race week! Wednesday: I didn’t think I would get my run in, so when the opportunity came to run in the evening, against my better judgement I put on some blaze orange, and went out with my husband for a 3.5 mile run.  (Seriously, I am such a scaredy cat.  If he wasn’t with me, I wouldn’t have even thought of going {Read More}

5 Essentials for a Long Run

Running is supposed to be simple; lace your shoes, and get out there.   And for the most part, this holds true. However, with my longer runs, I find myself constantly trying to figure out what I need to carry with me.  I know, I’m probably way over thinking things, but I have put a lot of thought and “trial and error” into what I carry with me.  I think I’ve finally figured it out. So maybe I can save you {Read More}

Ah!  I am getting so close to race day!  This was a big running week.  (perhaps that’s why I am almost a week late in posting about it?)  😉 Tuesday –  4.4 miles Wednesday – 12 Miles Thursday – 6 miles Friday – rest day Saturday – 5 miles Sunday – 22 miles! For Sunday’s run, we woke up super early and headed down to Richmond to run with my Sister in {Read More}
