If you are a runner, then you probably have a closet full of old shoes that have quite a few miles on them. I’ve noticed that after about 300 miles, I tend to clomp around while I’m running… That is the first sign that its time to look for a new pair! So, what do you do with your old shoes?! Don’t just throw them away! Here are 5 ways to recycle your running shoes! My local running club {Read More}
Friday Five: Races to Run in 2015
Well here it is, another Friday. Another week gone… This one went pretty fast despite having the kids home from school way more than I’m used to! 😉 Today I’ve decided to once again link up with Mar on the Run, Eat Pray Run DC, and You Signed Up for What?! for the Friday Five! This week’s theme is Five Races to Run in 2015! I mentioned yesterday that my racing season starts in just a few weeks, and I’m really looking forward to the races {Read More}
My 2015 Goals
It is now two weeks into the new year, and I have been thinking quite a bit about what my goals for this year are. I think I finally have a good start now to where I would like my running journey to go in 2015. Here are my top 5 goals for this year: First, I have a few race goals. I would like to run a marathon under 4:20. My last marathon, I ran in 4:35, and really {Read More}
Week 15 of Richmond Marathon Training
or “Why I Don’t Run in the Dark!” I’ve finished my last week of training before the Richmond Marathon Race week! Wednesday: I didn’t think I would get my run in, so when the opportunity came to run in the evening, against my better judgement I put on some blaze orange, and went out with my husband for a 3.5 mile run. (Seriously, I am such a scaredy cat. If he wasn’t with me, I wouldn’t have even thought of going {Read More}
Week 14 of Richmond Marathon Training and a New 5K PR
This was my first week of tapering before the Richmond Marathon, and so far, so good. I’v actually enjoyed the slight break from a crazy number of miles. (I’m sure by the end of next week, I’ll be a little insane) 😉 Monday – A rest day, after my 22 mile run on Sunday Tuesday – 10 miles on the treadmill, would end up being my longest run this week. When there’s nothing exciting to take a picture of, I {Read More}
Week 12 of Richmond Marathon Training
Another week down! Less than 4 weeks before I run my next marathon! This week’s training wasn’t terribly noteworthy. Coming off of a less than stellar 20 mile run; Monday – Rest day Tuesday – 4.15 miles on the treadmill. I was pretty glad to have a shorter run scheduled, it gave me an extra day for my tired legs. Wednesday – This was my mid week long run. I was going to run it around town while my youngest was {Read More}
Stonewall Jackson 20 Mile Ambulance Run Race Recap
On the training plan for this past weekend was a 20 mile run. There just happened to be a 20 miler somewhat nearby, that I’ve heard mentioned as a good race when training for the Marine Corps Marathon or the Richmond Marathon. So, (partly because I don’t like planning long routes, and partly because I really like race t shirts), I signed up! Packet pickup started at 5:30 on Saturday morning, and the race was just under a 2 hour {Read More}
