Friday Five: #AwareWithPink

This post is sponsored by Aftershokz through my affiliation with FitApproach.  As always, all opinions are my own.

As I’m sure you are all aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Having both friends and family that have been directly affected by breast cancer, I am absolutely willing to lend my voice to raise awareness for this cause.  With that in mind, and to help spread the word with Aftershokzhere is my #AwareWithPink Friday Five!

Five Things That Make Me Feel Aware and Empowered!

Friday Five: #AwareWithPink

1. Tunes that inspire!

Sometimes when I run, I like to run unplugged.  No music, just me and my thoughts…  Most of the time though, I love running with music, and my running playlist is super varied.  However, there are a couple of songs, that no matter how often I update my running playlist, they never go away.  Here’s three, “One Foot” by Fun.“I Lived” by One Republic, and of course, “Lose Yourself” by Eminem.  Three songs guaranteed to inspire!

And, now when I run with my Aftershokz Trekz Titanium Pink headphones (Which you can read more about here), I can listen to my music, and still be aware of my surroundings. Plus, for every unit sold on aftershokz.com through October 31st, 2016, AfterShokz will donate 25% of proceeds to Bright Pink, a non-profit that focuses on breast and ovarian cancer awareness and action.

2. Give Back!

Running is amazing, and it can be even more amazing when you are running for a good cause!

For the entire month of October,  I will be logging all my miles for the If Girls Ran the World, a virtual running event to benefit charities that support women worldwide.  My goal is to run 100 miles, raising money for The Hunger Project.

3. Be a self care advocate!

We all need to do a little something for ourselves!  For me that is sometimes a little yoga and stretching, or just a hot cup of coffee on a quiet morning, (as rare as those are with 3 kids).  Lately though, I have been trying to fit more time in for reading…  somewhere along the way, I’ve forgotten how much I loved reading something longer than a magazine article!

4. Inspiring threads!

Friday Five #AwareWithPink

What better way to empower yourself to get sweaty and strong than by wearing your favorite fitness gear?! Seriously, nothing gets me more excited to get my run on than a brand spankin’ new pair of running shoes, or some fabulous running clothes!  This month, let’s spread awareness by wearing pink, or buying gear that benefits BCA.

5. Friends who inspire!

I have met so many amazing and inspiring people in the running community!  In fact, I am fairly certain that there is no greater group of people in the world than runners!

My husband probably inspires/empowers me the most.  He is super encouraging, and a great running partner.  In fact, I’m pretty sure that if I were to sign us up to run a marathon tomorrow, he’d be up for it!

So tell me, what makes you feel aware and empowered?

And don’t forget!  Every time #AwareWithPink is used on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, AfterShokz will donate an additional 25 cents to Bright Pink to extend the awareness!

So let’s share the love!
