Empowering Young Girls and Giving Back!

“Girls on the Run inspires girls to take charge of their lives and define the future on their terms. It’s a place where girls learn that they can. No limits. No constraints. Only opportunities to be remarkable.”

Are you familiar with Girls on the Run?  It is a a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young girls through running.  As a mom to two girls, and a runner, I think this is such an important program.  Which is why I have partnered with Shop with Scrip and Fit Approach to raise money for Girls on the Run.

Girls on the Run is about so much more than running.  Over the course of 10 weeks, girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful contribution to community and society.

My daughter has participated in Girls on the Run a number of times, and I have had the joy of being her running partner for the final 5K at the end of the program each time.  It is so amazing to see all those girls achieving their goals and finishing their race.

Putting the “Fun” in Fundraising

So how will I be raising money for this incredible program? I am working with Shop with Scrip.  Before this campaign, I had never heard of this type of fundraiser.  But let me tell you, I think it is a game changer!  Now, with three school aged children, I have been through a lot of fundraising, and most of it has been selling overpriced things that no one really needs.

What is Scrip Fundraising?

ShopWithScrip is a fundraising platform where you can support your local nonprofits through gift card fundraising with a rebate back on all purchases to your nonprofit organization.

Here’s how it works:

  • You’ll enroll your organization in a scrip program and invite members to join.
  • Your members buy retail gift cards through your scrip program at face value.
  • Your organization buys the gift cards at 3-15% less than face value depending on the retailer.
  • The difference between face value and what your organization pays is your organization’s earnings.
  • Members use that gift card on their shopping and your fundraiser has begun!

Basically, instead of buying overpriced wrapping paper or candy bars that no body needs, your members can spend their money where they normally would, at no extra cost.  There are gift cards available to over 750 stores, restaurants, gas stations, hotels and more!

If you are interested in joining me in raising money for Girls on the Run, leave me a comment, or send me an email and I will get you set up!

Disclaimer: This campaign is sponsored by ShopWithScrip.  Through my affiliation with the Sweat Pink Ambassador Community.  I’m fundraising for Girls on the Run, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young girls through running.  All monies fundraised are donated to Girls on the Run at the conclusion of the campaign.  Thank you for your readership and interest in forwarding Girls on the Run’s mission of inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

  5. I love Girls on the Run! I’ve been wanting to coach for years but my kids are still too young for me to be able to do an after school program without them in tow. Luckily I’ve been able to coach Kids Run the Nation. I’m just glad I’m able to influence young runners!
