A constant thought while out on a run has been, “Man, I really need to look into wireless headphones!”  I’m not sure what I am doing wrong, but my headphone’s cord is always getting in the way!  Either hitting me in the face, or getting caught between my legs…  So, when I had the opportunity {Read More}

Training Recap and Race Updates

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Training Recap, so I’m pretty excited to get back into it! So, what am I training for?  That is an excellent question…  because, I’m not really sure. This next week should officially start my Richmond Marathon training.  It would be my third year in a row running it, and it is one of my all time favorite races.  BUT, I haven’t signed up yet, and honestly, I’m not sure I will.  Since {Read More}

2016 Blue Ridge Half Marathon Race Recap

In April, I had the pleasure of running the Blue Ridge Half Marathon in Roanoke as an official blogger for the race.  Now that its mid-June, I’m thinking it is probably about time I post a race recap…  So, here it goes! Weekly Recap and a Big Announcement! #RunBlueRidge

Well, now that the Marine Corps Marathon and the Richmond Marathon have come and gone, my 2015 racing year is winding down… So, what’s next for me? More on that in a minute.  😉 I felt great after finishing Richmond, like best I have ever felt after a marathon…  Still, I took the entire week off following the race.  I didn’t run, even though I was tempted to lace up my shoes every time I saw someone out on a {Read More}

Weekly Marathon Training Recap 9/7 – 9/13

What a week!   I’m a few days late with  my recap, but better late than never, right?! We’ll just jump right in… Monday – Labor Day. We pushed our long run, (usually on Saturday) to Monday because of the holiday.  So the week started with 16 miles.  Not a bad run, but we (my husband and I), got a pretty late start so it was midday and super hot by the time we finished, and our pace was slower {Read More}

Weekly Marathon Training Recap 8/24 – 8/30

Last week went pretty well.  Although, I really didn’t get many miles in… I knew I was lucky to have my free time when the kids were in school, but I don’t think I fully realized just how lucky I was.  😉  Marathon training was much easier when I was unemployed! Now that I’m working, I only have early mornings and evenings to run  By evening, I’m just exhausted… So, It looks like going to have to become a morning person! {Read More}

Weekly Recap 7/20 – 7/26

Week 3 of training for the Marine Corps Marathon and Richmond Marathon! This was one of those rare weeks that I actually got all of my training miles in! Monday – 5.1 miles.  It was a pretty unremarkable run.  Although, I did get to leave the treadmill and run outside, which is a win for sure!  Average pace: 9’37″/mile. Tuesday – Back on the treadmill for 7 miles.  Now, usually running inside is a great way to beat the heat {Read More}

Oh my goodness, I almost missed it! The original look of Karen Goes Running! When I started this blog, I was beginning to train for the Richmond Marathon.  Now, one year later, I {Read More}
