Why I’m Excited To #RunRichmond Once Again!

Summer is heating up, which means it’s the perfect time to start planning your fall races!

Last year, about this time, I was feeling a little worn out and decided not to run a fall marathon.  I felt like I needed a break.  However, that break lasted a lot longer than I planned… and while I did run a spring marathon and a couple of halves, my training has been extremely unfocused.  And those races were pretty mediocre.

When I started thinking about my fall races, I knew I needed to put a marathon back on my schedule.  But which one will I run?  Well, that’s easy.  If you read my blog, or have talked running with me, then you would know the Richmond Marathon is hands down my favorite race.  And I am super excited to be running Richmond again in November!

Richmond Marathon

Check out the gorgeous views of the James River on my favorite part of the course!

The first time I ran Richmond was in 2013.  I had just started running, and ran the half with my Sister-in-law.  I had so much fun that I came back for the full marathon in 2014 and 2015.  (You can read about my first Richmond Marathon here).  Richmond is a great race!  The support is fantastic, from spectators to volunteers…  They don’t call it America’s Friendliest Marathon for nothing.  Then the course itself is really scenic.  Not too hilly, not too flat, and there is a super fast downhill finish!

Smiling at the finish in 2014.

Big News!

It that wasn’t reason enough to be excited to #RunRichmond this November, I am thrilled to announce that I have been asked to be an Official Blogger for the 2017 Anthem Richmond Marathon!  Such a huge honor, and not just because it is my favorite race, but this year happens to be the 40th running of the Richmond Marathon! (And I know they have some special plans in the works to celebrate).

2015 – So much fun!

Still planning your 2017 race schedule?  Why not run with me in November?

Hope to see you there!
