2014 My Year in Review

And just like that, another year is gone…

But what a great year it was!!

So much has happened since January 1st 2014.  Like 2 marathons, a new blog and 1200 miles!

In January, I started training for my first marathon!  I thought it was a crazy idea, and didn’t really have a lot of confidence that I would be able to finish!

In the spring, I ran a few local races. I got a PR at the Monument Ave 10k in March.

In April, I had a blast at the Cherry Blossom 10-miler in DC.  Then I won 1st in my age group, (3rd female), at a local 5k!

(Pretty bummed I did’t get into the lottery for the 2015 Cherry Blossom, but I will definitely try again in next year!)

Then in May, came The Flying Pig Marathon.  I went into it with two goals.  Firstly, I just wanted to finish.  2nd, if I finished, I was really hoping to do so in under 5 hours.

(And I just made it!  4 hours and 59 min!)

That first marathon was incredible!  I learned so much, and couldn’t wait to sign up for another.  You really can’t imagine how 26 miles will feel until you run it.

June and July were pretty light on running.  With the kids on vacation, it was family time, and running was on the back burner.  It was just the break I needed before jumping back into marathon training!

Although the miles were low, July did bring about something new.  I was already talking about running all the time, so I decided to start writing a bit of that down…

…And this blog was born!  Its so much fun working on something new, and one of these days, I may get the hang of it all.  Because for the most part, I’m still not quite sure what I’m doing on here.  😉

My fall races went great!  They started with the Stonewall Jackson Ambulance Run 20-miler.

I used this race as a training run for my next marathon.  The race went awesome, and it was just the pace I was hoping to accomplish at the Richmond marathon in November.

October also became my highest mileage month ever!  206 miles for the month!

In November, I PR’d at a local 5k.

Winning 2nd place in my age group!

And then the Richmond Marathon!

It was amazing!  And I knocked 24 minutes off of my marathon time!

Now that year is over…

I have so much to look forward to in 2015!

My next marathon will likely be the Blue Ridge Marathon in Roanoke.  I am also hoping to run a half marathon soon.  I didn’t run any in 2014, and I would really like to reach my goal time of under 2 hours.

And possibly most exciting of 2015, is that this year I will be running for Team Nuun!  I was super happy to find out a few weeks ago to find out that I had been chosen to be a part of their Competitive Athletic Team!

I can’t wait to share more about this awesome product, (that I love!) and this awesome company!  I am super stoked to be part of this great team with SO many incredible athletes!!

And that’s it.  Another year gone…  I cannot wait to see what all 2015 has in store!!

Are you sad to see 2014 go?

What are your goals for 2015?

Happy New Year Everyone!!
